Privacy Policy

CoTrips ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the control you have. It applies to the CoTrips mobile app and this website. What we collect • Account details you provide (name, email, profile). • Trip content you create (itineraries, expenses, memories, chat). • Precise location data, only while you actively turn on live location sharing — each session lasts at most 60 minutes and then switches off automatically. • Health and fitness data, read only after you connect your personal Activity dashboard (a fitness and wellness feature). On iOS, steps, distance and active energy are read from Apple Health (HealthKit). On Android, steps come from your device's built-in step sensor and distance and calories are entered by you. Access is read-only and happens only while the app is open — never in the background. This data is used solely to show you your own activity and stays on your device; it is shared with your trip's members only if you separately opt in to Activity sharing, is never used for advertising, and is never sold. • Basic device and usage data to keep the app reliable. How we use it • To provide and improve the CoTrips features you use. • To show your live location to your trip members only while sharing is on. • To show your activity totals (steps, distance, energy, elevation) to your trip members only while Activity sharing is on. • To keep the service safe and prevent abuse. We never use your location or health data for advertising, and we never sell your personal data. Health data is used only for the Activity-sharing feature you turn on. How we share it • Trip content, live location, and activity totals are visible only to members of the trips you join. • We do not sell personal data or share it with third parties for their own marketing. Data retention • Trip content, location history, and activity data are kept while your account is active so the app works across your devices. • Live location is transient: each shared position expires automatically at the end of its 60-minute session, and older location history is pruned periodically. • When you delete your account, all personally identifiable information — including trips you own, location data, memories, and health/activity data — is permanently removed from our systems. We keep only the minimum records the law requires, for as long as legally required. Your control and rights • Location sharing and Activity (health) sharing are off by default and always opt-in; you can turn them off at any time. • You have the right to access, edit, and delete your trips, memories, and account at any time — in the app under Settings → Account → Delete Account, or by emailing support@cotrips.app. • Revoking the HealthKit permission in your device settings (iOS) stops all health-data access immediately.
